With this current cold/flu season, the essential oil blend that we have been recommending the most is called Thieves Oil.

The other day, a client asked about the name. As a result, I thought I would just share a brief history on its very unique name.

During the 15th Century, when the Bubonic Plague had a grip on Europe; four thieves were robbing people, yet not becoming infected. Finally, they were captured in Marseilles, France, and charged with robbing the dead and dying victims of the plague.

At the trial, the magistrate offered them leniency if the thieves would reveal how they kept from getting infected when they continually came in such close contact with putrefied and dying bodies. It turns out that they were perfumers and would rub themselves down with a blend of cinnamon, clove and oregano.

There you go ~ the short, but sweet history of Thieves Oil!

Until next time!
